    MWHS Athletic Hall of Fame Welcomes 2024 Inductees

    The Mound Westonka High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024 was officially inducted Sept. 20 at a morning ceremony at the Westonka Performing Arts Center. On hand to receive their awards were: Angela (Baack) Johnson, Class of 2004; Jill (Esse) Johnson, Class of 2005; Harley Olstad, coach; and Oliver White, Class of 2009. Also inducted with the Hall of Fame class was Dave Kragthorpe, Class of 1951.

    Westonka Student Artists Earn Ribbons at State Fair

    Student artists from Hilltop and Shirley Hills primary schools, as well as Grandview Middle School, participated in the annual art competition at the Minnesota State Fair this summer. Westonka Public Schools has historically had a high number of ribbon winners at the fair, and this year was no exception. Westonka students brought home dozens of ribbons, despite stiff competition from across the state.

    Two Westonka Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

    Mound Westonka High School seniors Raul Jordan and Rohan Nella have earned a distinguished place among high schoolers nationwide as semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. They are now eligible to continue in the competition for 6,870 National Merit Scholarships, totaling nearly $26 million, which will be awarded next spring.

    Westonka Ranked No. 5 Minnesota District by SchoolDigger

    In its new rankings for 2024, SchoolDigger ranks Westonka Public Schools as the No. 5 school district in the state out of 463 Minnesota districts. Westonka is first in the state among traditional public school districts. Additionally, Grandview Middle School ranks as the No. 7 middle school out of 545 in Minnesota. Shirley Hills and Hilltop primary schools rank 12th and 13th, respectively, out of 881 elementary schools in the state, and Mound Westonka High School ranks 15th out of 480 high schools.

    Grandview is a School 'Where Everybody Belongs'

    Grandview Middle School is a school where everybody belongs. Led by a group of the school’s seventh grade students, WEB, "Where Everybody Belongs," is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes new middle school students to Grandview and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience.

    Link Crew Leaders Welcome New Students to MWHS

    The Link Team was eager for 114 junior and senior Link Crew leaders to come together on August 25 for training to lead the eighth grade Welcome Orientation held on the morning of August 28. Over 90 percent of incoming eighth-grade students were either picked up by school bus transportation or were dropped off at the high school for the events that morning.

    Ten Mound Westonka High School musicians experienced the musical journey of a lifetime this summer, when they participated in the Minnesota Ambassadors of Music tour. The 15-day tour provided students with an unparalleled opportunity to explore the best of Europe, including stops in the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.
