  • Scott Lhotka Named Director of Westonka Community Education and Services

    Westonka Public Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Scott Lhotka as the next director of Westonka Community Education and Services. Lhotka brings to the position more than 18 years of experience in education, including 10 in the Westonka district. He will begin serving as community education and services director on July 15.

  • Congratulations to the Class of 2022!

    Amid pomp and circumstance, Mound Westonka High School honored the 195 members of the 2022 graduating class June 1 at an outdoor ceremony on Haddorff Field. The Class of 2022 enthusiastically accepted diplomas in front of family, friends, teachers and school staff. “Thank you for sharing this day with us to focus on the accomplishments of this fine class,” MWHS Principal Mark McIlmoyle told the audience in his opening remarks.

  • Primary School Pen Pals Meet in Person

    Pen pals are usually strangers whose relationship is based primarily, or even solely, on their exchange of letters. Second graders in Mara Drill’s class at Hilltop and in Debbie Loomis’s class at Shirley Hills were likely strangers at the beginning of the school year when they became pen pals. But after a year of getting to know each other via letters, the two classes got together to meet each other in person on May 31. And they’ve now become friends.

  • Wolf Ridge Welcomes Westonka Fourth Graders

    Making memories that will last a lifetime, Westonka's fourth grade students, along with a group of staff and parents, spent an exciting week at the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, Minnesota. This year, Shirley Hills Primary School students visited Wolf Ridge May 16-20, while Hilltop Primary School fourth graders made the trip May 23-27.
