    Mound Westonka High School Theatre is proud to present optimistic family entertainment with the fall musical, "Annie." Based on the popular stories of “Little Orphan Annie,” this popular musical is the winner of seven Tony Awards and is sure to warm your heart.

  • Busy Week for MWHS Pep Band

    The Mound Westonka High School Pep Band was busy this week, performing both a benefit concert and the traditional Halloween concerts. The band collected nearly $600, plus some canned goods, for Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN) at a benefit concert Oct. 28 in the Westonka Performing Arts Center (PAC).

  • Westonka Hosts MNSHAPE Conference

    Westonka Public Schools hosted the 2019 Minnesota Society of Health and Physical Educators (MNSHAPE) Conference on Oct. 17 and 18, organized by Grandview Middle School PE teacher Pete Westby. The annual event attracted 235 attendees from throughout Minnesota and the neighboring states.

  • Vote in the Westonka School District Election On or Before Nov. 5

    The Westonka School District election is next Tuesday, Nov. 5. We know that work schedules and family activities can sometimes make it difficult to get to the polls on Election Day. Luckily, it has never been easier to vote early in person in Minnesota. Read on for all the information you need to vote to set the district’s direction.

  • Direct Ballot Absentee Voting Begins Tuesday

    Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 29, in-person absentee voters for the Nov. 5 Westonka School District election will be able to vote by "direct ballot," meaning they will be able to feed their ballot into a ballot counter just as is done on Election Day. In-person absentee/early voting is conducted at the Westonka Educational Service Center, 5901 Sunnyfield Road E, Minnetrista. The district is offering some extended early voting hours this week.

  • Ninth-Graders Attend Annual Respect Retreat

    A total of 220 Mound Westonka High School ninth-graders and 26 senior Link Crew leaders took part in the annual Ninth-Grade Respect Retreat Oct. 3 at the Westonka Activity Center. Put on by the nonprofit organization Youth Frontiers, the Respect Retreat inspires students to build a positive community where all students can thrive socially, emotionally and academically.

  • Students Celebrate Unity Day by Wearing Orange

    Students across the district stood up to bullying on Oct. 23 by wearing orange to celebrate Unity Day, a movement designed to bring everyone together to stand against bullying and be united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Each school in the Westonka district conducted activities throughout the month of October aimed at spreading kindness, promoting unity and combating bullying.

  • Pep Band Benefit Concert Slated Oct. 28

    A benefit concert featuring the Mound Westonka High School Pep Band will take place on Monday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Westonka Performing Arts Center at the high school. Suggested donation is $5, which will go towards Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN). The concert will include both old and new pop and rock music hits, as well as pep band favorites.

  • DECA Hosts Trick-or-Trot 5K for WeCAN

    Mound Westonka DECA is partnering with Western Communities Action Network (WeCAN) to host a 5K and Fun Run on October 26. This event will take place in and around the MWHS Commons area. Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. The 1-Mile Run Fun will begin at 10 a.m., followed immediately by the 5K around 10:15 to 10:30 a.m. Following the race, snacks will be provided to all runners as race and costume winners are announced.

  • MWHS Opens Free Store for Students

    A group of parent volunteers, staff and students gathered near the Mound Westonka High School cafeteria Thursday afternoon to celebrate the school's new "Hawk Vault" resource room. In the weeks since it opened at the start of the school year, the repurposed storage space has become a refuge for teens in need of anything from a Homecoming dress to a pair of gym shoes to a stick of deodorant.

  • Update Your Family's Contact Information to Receive School Alerts

    At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, Westonka Schools will be conducting a test of its parent/staff notification system. The district asks that all families use Skyward Family Access to ensure that we have the most current phone numbers and email addresses in the event of a weather-related closing or other announcement.

  • There's Nothing Quite Like Westonka Homecoming

    In the Westonka School District, homecoming is something special. On top of preparing for the big game, White Hawks football players spend Homecoming Week reading to primary school students and presenting letters and jerseys to influential teachers. Westonka students of years past gather each year for an alumni breakfast and even join the pep fest at their alma mater. Musicians wielding everything from brass instruments to wastebasket drums and kazoos perform with pride in the annual homecoming parade.

  • Nominations Open for 2020 Westonka Teacher of the Year

    Westonka Education Minnesota is excited to launch the Westonka Teacher of the Year program. The organization will be collecting nominations from staff, students, parents and community members. Nominations for the 2019-2020 award are now open and must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 25.

  • Westonka Schools to Pilot eLearning Days

    In recent years, Minnesota schools have experienced more weather-related school day cancellations than in the past. To help protect student learning on these canceled school days, Westonka Public Schools will be implementing an "eLearning Day" protocol for the 2019-2020 school year.
