Facilities

The Westonka Facilities Department takes pride in providing our students, staff, and community members with high-quality, efficient, sustainable, and safe physical environments that positively impact our students' learning experience.

The facilities department is responsible for the maintenance and custodial cleaning of all district buildings. This includes project management, preventive maintenance, special projects, etc.

We work closely with the grounds department, the community education department, and the safety committee to ensure all areas in the district are safe, secure, and readily available for use as needed. We oversee water, utilities, and garbage waste usage in the district and track the usage in a benchmarking program.

Health & Safety Notices

See below for health- and safety-related notices. Parents will be notified prior to pesticide applications, and an estimated schedule of pesticide applications, if planned, will be available for review at the school's main office. Parents may specifically request individual prior notice of pesticide applications by contacting the district office at (952) 491-8007.

Annual Notices

Westonka Public Schools conducted lead in water testing during the 2024-2025 school year and will continue to test every five (5) years in compliance with Minnesota State Statute 121A.335.

Minnesota statute requires that school districts inform parents and guardians if the district applies certain pesticides on school property.

Independent School District 277 (Westonka Public Schools) has in place a program to monitor and improve air quality at our schools. The District considers no objective more important than providing its employees, students and visitors with a healthy, safe environment.

The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requires a semi-annual asbestos survey at each school to monitor the overall condition of previously known or assumed asbestos containing material.
