Westonka Community Relations leads communications and community engagement efforts that support Westonka Public Schools’ strategic plan, as well as its schools, staff and students.
The Community Relations team promotes two-way communication with employees, families, and community members to promote student achievement and build understanding and support for Westonka Public Schools.
Guided by the principle that effective communication involves both listening and sharing, we focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with parents, staff, business leaders, and community partners. We are committed to meaningful public engagement that encourages community involvement in education, ultimately benefiting our students and enhancing their success.

The filing period for candidates seeking election to the School Board of Independent School District No. 277 will begin on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, and will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. At that time, voters will elect three (3) members to the School Board, each to serve a four-year term.
The 2025-26 Westonka High School Student Senate was elected and officially assumed their new positions last week. School-wide elections were held May 23 with 50 students across four grades vying for a position on next year’s Student Senate.
Field days are an end-of-year ritual for many primary school students. Both Hilltop and Shirley Hills schools embraced the tradition and spent an entire day this week celebrating the end of the school year.
On May 9-10, the Mound Westonka High School robotics team, the Tonkabots, was among the top 36 teams in the state invited to compete in the MSHSL State Championship at the Ganglehoff Center on the Concordia University campus in St. Paul.
High school graduation is a celebration of hard work, dedication, and the culmination of years of learning. Mound Westonka High School honored the 174 members of the 2025 graduating class on June 2 at a ceremony in the high school gym, where the Class of 2025 enthusiastically accepted diplomas in front of family, friends, teachers, and school staff.
