Policy Manual
Independent School District No. 277 maintains a firm policy prohibiting acts of bullying, by either an individual student or a group of students, or an individual adult or group of adults. If you wish to report an incident of bullying, complete this form and return it to a teacher, building principal, or the office of the superintendent. Establishes Westonka School District's purpose, mission, and philosophy, reflecting community beliefs and values, and its educational goals.
Establishes goal of the community relations program, defines steps to reach this goal, and defines functions of the office of community relations.
The intent is that all students of District #277 will be free from discrimination and harassment, in all areas of education, with steps for questions to be answered.
Defines steps to ensure involvement by parents of Title I students in the students' program and experiences by developing and distributing district and building policies.
The school district recognizes its responsibility relative to the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of public data as provided in state statutes.
All citizens have the right to present constructive criticism. Defines steps to hear and reply.
The purpose of this policy is to provide for the establishment of a Community Education and Services (CES) Advisory Council and establish its membership and responsibilities.
Identifies authorization process for distribution of advertisements, and conditions for allowing signage.
Westonka School District's web pages are to enhance instruction and provide information. Addresses content standards, maintenance and development responsibilities, and final approval.
Permits District #277 to lease space. Lease may be negotiated by the Superintendent, and must be approved by the School Board. Identifies revenue use.
Informs the school community and the general public of the position of the school board on visitors to school buildings and other school property.
Provide guidelines for the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), also known as drones.
Establishes a tobacco-free learning and working environment. Defines tobacco products and devices, one exception, enforcement and dissemination of policy.
Prohibits possession, use or distribution of a weapon when in a school location or during any school activity. Defines exception. Identified consequences.
Addresses a wide range of potential crisis situation in the school district, providing procedures as guide for each building's plan. Includes crisis response procedures and warning systems.
Clarifies the criteria and the approval for proposed memorials for Westonka students or staff.
Equal Access Act grants access to secondary school facilities for students who wish to conduct a meeting for religious, political or philosophical purposes during noninstructional time.
Provides guidelines for the superintendent for timely disposition of obsolete equipment and material. Defines various manners of disposition based on the value of the equipment/material.
Identifies methods the district uses to comply with state laws on waste management and to make resource management integral to physical operations and curriculum.
