Elections
Westonka School Board members are elected to four-year overlapping terms, with elections held every two years. At the end of a four-year term, members may run for re-election to successive terms. Voting takes place on odd years in November, and terms begin the following January.

Notice of School Board Candidate Filing - ISD #277
The filing period for candidates seeking election to the School Board of Independent School District No. 277 will begin on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, and will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. At that time, voters will elect three (3) members to the School Board, each to serve a four-year term.
Filing Information:
- Affidavits of Candidacy and candidate information packets are available at the the district office: 5901 Sunnyfield Road East, Minnetrista, MN during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
- The filing fee is $2
To qualify as a candidate, you must be:
- an eligible voter in Minnesota;
- at least 21 years old by the time you would assume office;
- have lived in the district for at least 30 days before the election;
- not have another affidavit of candidacy filed for any other office for the same election.
All affidavits and filings fees must be submitted in person at the school district office before 5 p.m. on August 12, 2025.

Campaign Financial Reports
Per Minnesota Statutes Chapter 211A, a committee or candidate who receives contributions or makes disbursements of more than $750 in a calendar year shall submit an initial report to the filing officer within 14 days after the candidate or committee receives or makes disbursements of more than $750, and shall continue to make the reports until a final report is filed. Financial reports will be posted on the school district website for a period of four (4) years.
