Westonka High School Celebrates Record-Breaking AP Achievement

Westonka High School students reached new heights in Advanced Placement (AP) achievement in 2026, earning the highest AP exam passing rate since the district began tracking results in 2007.

A record 241 Westonka High School students took a total of 447 AP exams in 2026. Even as participation reached an all-time high, 84.34% of AP exams earned a score of 3 or higher, which can qualify students to earn college credit at many colleges and universities.

“What makes these results especially impressive is that we’re seeing record participation alongside record achievement,” said Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Mark Femrite. “More Westonka students are challenging themselves with rigorous AP coursework, and they are succeeding at an incredibly high level. These results speak to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the culture of academic excellence at Westonka High School.”

The strong results were also reflected in the number of students earning recognition from the College Board. In 2026, 74 Westonka High School students were named AP Scholars, setting another school record. That represents a significant increase from 50 AP Scholars in 2025.

The College Board recognizes students for outstanding achievement on AP exams at three levels:

• AP Scholar with Distinction: 32 WHS students earned this recognition by receiving scores of 3 or above on at least five AP exams and earning an average AP score of at least 3.50.
• AP Scholar with Honor: 21 WHS students earned this recognition by receiving scores of 3 or higher on at least four AP exams and earning an average AP score of at least 3.25.
• AP Scholar: 21 WHS students earned this recognition by receiving scores of 3 or higher on at least three AP exams.
