Westonka Celebrates Grand Opening of New High School Tennis Courts

Westonka Public Schools officially opened the new tennis courts at Westonka High School on Wednesday evening with a ribbon cutting ceremony that brought together school leaders, athletes, and community members.

Superintendent Kevin Borg addressed the crowd, expressing gratitude to the Westonka School Board, district administrators, the design committee, coaches, players, and the community at large for bringing the project to life. “We’re incredibly proud of this new facility and deeply grateful to the Westonka community for making it a reality,” said Borg.

“Our head tennis coach, Rob Paul, is in his 30th year coaching at Westonka,” Borg added. "He has shared how impressed our community and those outside our community have been with the quality of the courts, the accessibility, and the areas for spectating. This will elevate the experience for our students and our community as a whole.”

Members of the tennis and pickleball communities were on hand to help showcase the new courts, which were thoughtfully designed to support both school teams and public recreational use.

Courts Open for Public Use

The Westonka High School tennis courts are open to the public daily. Availability may vary by season:

Fall & Spring

• Courts are used on weekday afternoons by the White Hawks tennis teams (3:00-5:00 p.m.)
• Outside of team use, courts are generally open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. - including most weekends - on a first-come, first-served basis
• Match schedules are posted on the high school activities calendar

Summer

• Courts are open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Weekday mornings may be busy due to summer tennis camps. Camp schedules will be posted to the Westonka Activity Center website
