Kelsey Eldred Named March Winner of Westonka Way Award

Westonka High School custodian Kelsey Eldred has been named the March 2026 recipient of the Westonka Way Award. The monthly award celebrates non-licensed Westonka Public Schools staff members who go above and beyond for families, students and other staff—because that's the Westonka Way!

Eldred joined the custodial team at the high school in 2020. A nominator wrote, “Kelsey is a true team player - always taking on any task with a smile and gracious attitude. She never makes you feel like an inconvenience and greets you every morning with a friendly hello. There have been several times where we are unsure who to call, and even though the issue isn't directly involving Kelsey, she makes herself available. A hard worker. A kind person. A true gem.”

Another nominator wrote about the positive relationships Eldred has made with her coworkers. “Time and time again, her coworkers have come to me with glowing comments about how Kelsey has ‘stepped up,’ ‘helped out’ or ‘knew what was needed’ and just taken care of these things without being asked,” the nominator wrote. “She truly sees a need and takes care of that need. This leaves her coworkers with such admiration for the kind of work ethic she has and dedication to the team she shows.”

On Monday afternoon, Superintendent Kevin Borg was joined by WHS Principal Jolene Herfel and Westonka Facilities Director James Collins to present Eldred with a special plaque and gift card for the Al & Alma’s Signature Sunday Brunch Cruise on Lake Minnetonka.
