Hilltop and Shirley Hills primary schools will be honored this summer by the Minnesota Department of Education for relentless and positive efforts to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). The state-wide recognition will take place at the Summer Institute and Sustaining Exemplar Ceremony on August 12.

On a warm, summer-like evening, Westonka High School honored the 197 members of the 2026 graduating class June 1 at a ceremony at Haddorff Field, where the Class of 2026 enthusiastically accepted diplomas in front of family, friends, teachers, and school staff.

Field days are an end-of-year ritual for many primary school students. Both Hilltop and Shirley Hills schools embraced the tradition and spent an entire day this week celebrating the end of the school year.

The 2026-27 Westonka High School Student Senate was elected and officially assumed their new positions last week. School-wide elections were held in May with nearly 50 students across four grades vying for a position on next year’s Student Senate.

Westonka Public Schools and the Westonka American Indian Parent Advisory Committee honored three Westonka High School seniors during an Indigenous Graduation Commemoration held May 28 at the Westonka Educational Service Center.

Fourth graders from Hilltop and Shirley Hills primary schools, along with a brave group of staff and parents, spent an exciting week at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center together the week of May 18-22. Although the two schools followed different class schedules, students in the Class of 2034 overlapped at mealtimes and came together for a group photo.

Students in the Westonka Alternative Learning Academy (WALA) honored 10 seniors in their class who will be graduating on June 1 at a special graduation celebration on May 27. The day started with a ceremony in the Performing Arts Center and then moved on to YMCA Camp Christmas Tree for grilling and celebrating outdoors on a beautiful summer-like day.
