Westonka High School Reopens North Entrance Ahead of Summer Construction

This week marked an exciting milestone at Westonka High School as we officially reopened the north entrance for all students and visitors. I want to thank Principal Jolene Herfel and her team for their efforts in making a seamless transition into the new main office space on the north end of the building. The courtyard entrance is now closed as construction continues.

The redesigned entrance and main office improve wayfinding, strengthen security, and better accommodate the high volume of daily traffic. The updated space also includes a larger, more private school counseling area featuring a dedicated career center to better support students as they explore college, career, and postsecondary opportunities.

We are grateful for the community’s continued support of these improvements and thank our Westonka High School students, staff, and families for their patience and flexibility throughout construction.

Looking ahead, construction work will continue across the district this summer, with major projects planned at Westonka High School, Hilltop Primary School, and Shirley Hills Primary School. All three buildings will be closed to the public during this time. As a result, the majority of youth summer programming will be relocated to Westonka Middle School.

In addition to interior renovations at the high school, parking lots and drives surrounding the campus will be reconstructed during the summer months. The Westonka Activity Center (WAC) is also expected to close from Monday, June 1 through Sunday, July 26.

Parking lot closures on the high school campus will begin June 3. The Educational Service Center (district offices) will remain open throughout the summer with reduced hours. Staff and visitor parking for the ESC will be available in the lot near Field 2 on the north side of Sunnyfield Road E.
