High School North Entrance Opening and Courtyard Construction

Beginning Monday, May 4, Westonka High School will reopen its north entrance for all students and visitors.

The main office has been relocated to this area, creating a more visible and welcoming point of entry while improving wayfinding, strengthening security, and better accommodating the high volume of daily traffic. The space also includes a more spacious and private school counseling area featuring a dedicated career center.

This clearly defined entrance will serve as the school’s primary access point. Starting Monday, the courtyard entrance will be closed to allow for continued construction. 

Please note the following updates:

• Student drivers will park in the north lot and enter through the new entrance
• Students who ride the bus will enter and exit through the new entrance
• Parents will continue to drop off and pick up students at the courtyard. Students will enter and exit through the Performing Arts Center (PAC) doors. 
• Visitors during the school day will park in the north lot and use the new main entrance

Temporary fencing has been installed along designated paths to prioritize safety and guide access into the building. We ask that all students and visitors continue to respect these boundaries and avoid the construction areas.

Summer 2026 Construction

Significant construction will continue across the district this summer, including projects at Westonka High School, Hilltop Primary School, and Shirley Hills Primary School. All three buildings will be closed to the public. As a result, the majority of youth summer programming will be relocated to Westonka Middle School. 

In addition to interior renovations at the high school, the parking lots and drives around the high school will be reconstructed during the summer months. The Westonka Activity Center (WAC) will also temporarily close over the summer. The anticipated closure dates are Monday, June 1 through Sunday, July 26 and are subject to change depending on construction progress.

What to Expect During the WAC Closure

• All memberships will be paused
• The facility will be fully closed; the fitness center, walking track, gym and pool will not be available
• No programming, fitness classes, or facility rentals will take place
