A Successful School Year and a Summer of Progress

As we wrap up another successful school year, I am filled with gratitude for all that we've accomplished together and excited for what lies ahead. Time and again this year, the Westonka Public Schools community demonstrated ingenuity, flexibility, patience and resilience. Our high school students and staff, in particular, proved that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to, achieving new levels of success even in a continually changing environment.
While summer is often a season of relaxation and renewal, this year it will also be a season of transformation across our district. We wasted no time after students were out of the buildings, and significant construction is now underway. It will truly be an all-hands-on-deck effort to prepare our schools for the 2026-27 school year. I am confident that we have the right team in place to deliver on our community’s expectations and vision, and I appreciate everyone’s continued patience and support in the months ahead.
Buildings currently closed:
- Westonka High School
- Shirley Hills Primary School
- Hilltop Primary School
- Early Learning Center
- Westonka Activity Center (through July 26)
At Hilltop and Shirley Hills primary schools, deferred maintenance and improvement projects are now underway. Highlights include media center enhancements, new interior doors and hardware, upgraded piping, mechanical system improvements, a new boiler at Hilltop, new cafeteria windows at Shirley Hills, dehumidification in the Hilltop gym, and play area improvements. To accommodate construction, the majority of youth summer programming has been relocated to Westonka Middle School.
Work at Westonka High School also continues in phases. In addition to extensive interior renovations, construction on the parking lots and campus roadways began today. The Westonka Activity Center will be closed through July 26 to accommodate construction. The Westonka Educational Service Center will remain open this summer with reduced hours.
These projects represent a significant investment in the future of Westonka Public Schools, and we are grateful for the support of our community that made these improvements possible. Together, we are elevating the learning experience for years to come, creating opportunities for every student to dream big and create their own real-life success stories.
