COVID-19 Dashboard

  • Positive Case Communication

Due to data privacy laws, Westonka Public Schools is not allowed to share any names or personally identifiable information of individuals identified to have the virus. We recognize this can be frustrating. Westonka is committed to accurately communicating the school-level impact of COVID-19 during the 2020-21 school year in the following ways:

    • If you are determined to be a close contact of someone who tests positive for COVID-19, you will be contacted individually by Westonka’s Health Services Department and/or the Minnesota Department of Health and provided quarantine instructions.
    • If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19 and was in the building while infectious, all staff and families of that building will receive notification.
    • If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19 but was not in the building while infectious, all staff and families of that building will still receive notification.
    • Westonka has also launched a public dashboard that tracks confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our schools.

The Westonka Public Schools COVID-19 Dashboard tracks confirmed cases of COVID-19 in students or staff who were in the school building while infectious since the start of the 2020-21 school year (Sept. 8, 2020). This is consistent with how the Minnesota Department of Health is reporting school data.

This dashboard will be updated each Wednesday with new information from the previous week.

To protect health privacy and personal data in our small community, Westonka Schools is only reporting districtwide case totals in the public dashboard. Westonka parents and staff will continue to receive communication of any positive cases in their school building, even if the individual who tested positive was not in the building while infectious. This is done out of transparency and to help prevent the spread of misinformation.

Minnesota school buildings that have reported five or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 during a two-week reporting period will be listed on the Minnesota Department of Health public dashboard.
