Westonka Friends of the Arts

  • Support our mission of advocating for the performing arts by facilitating and encouraging community involvement in the Westonka Performing Arts Center. Participate in planning and special events by joining your friends and neighbors as a member.

The Advisory Committee is seeking additional members and volunteers as we expand our role to plan a community festival and support the new Westonka Community Theater.

    Who We Are:

On May 10, 2016, Westonka School District voters approved $22.95 million in bond funding, payable over 15 years, for the purposes of building a 600-seat performing arts center and a community athletics and recreation center at Mound Westonka High School. Anticipating this top notch facility for the performing arts, leaders in education, business, and government supported the creation of a Westonka Friends of the Arts organization.

Its mission includes advocating for the performing arts by facilitating and encouraging community involvement in the Westonka Performing Arts Center. The Performing Arts Center will not only offer students and teachers an amazing new space to stretch their imagination and invention, but will provide community members of all ages a place to participate in theatre, music, dance, and view the visual arts. The Westonka Performing Arts Center not only offers students and teachers an amazing new space to stretch their imagination and invention, but provides community members of all ages a place to participate in theatre, music, dance and view the visual arts. Those of us who live here know the quality of education, the joys of the lakes, neighborhoods, and many events. The new performing arts center should become a new point of pride in the community.

Westonka Friends of the Arts hopes to:

    • Foster creativity
    • Celebrate diverse cultures
    • Promote local involvement in the arts

    What we do:

Volunteers have been staffing concessions at some of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) performances to raise funds. We are also working on grants and will be visiting community businesses and organizations to ask for support.
