Westonka Staff Development
-
The staff development provided to teachers is driven by Goal 1 of the Westonka Public Schools Strategic Plan: Provide an outstanding E-12 educational experience that prepares all students for post-high school education and careers.
To address the Strategic Goal 1 components, staff development is provided through different activities and methods. Staff development activities include the following:
- Workshop days led by principals and teacher leaders on specific topics, including literacy, grading, social-emotional learning, and technology integration
- Academic 1-to-1 coaching on instructional strategies
- The use of grade level/department time to address building student achievement goal(s)
- A mentorship program designed to provide support for first-year Westonka teachers
These activities are planned by our district teaching and learning team, principals and building teacher leadership teams.
